CIE-NEWS PAPER BAG LIMITED Ver. “CIE for ONKUL”

A collaboration item inspired by the "Work Bag" feature in the inaugural issue of ONKUL, a fashion and lifestyle magazine for adult women who appreciate focusing on the essentials.

With its faded sand-beige hue and coarse, canvas-like texture, this piece exudes a vintage-inspired aesthetic. Though it has the feel of cotton, it is crafted from salt-shrunk nylon, making it impressively lightweight and resistant to both water and stains. We have specially customized this rugged, masculine piece by adding a red shoulder strap that provides a stylish accent to any outfit. A subtly placed logo print in the same color serves as a refined detail.

The main material is "KONBU-N," a fabric developed by Komatsu Matere. Through a special treatment, each fiber is swollen to create volume; while it maintains the same durability and resistance to degradation as conventional nylon, it boasts the unique texture, dry feel, and firmness of cotton canvas, all while being remarkably lightweight. The top gusset features a zippered pocket perfect for storing transit cards, keys, and other small essentials.

Drawing on details from 1950s–60s US newspaper bags, the design features shoulder straps made from a combination of the body fabric and acrylic tape secured with four-row stitching, complemented by triple-stitched body panels—all modified for a modern sensibility. The series is highly functional, utilizing water-repellent zippers from YKK. The CIE original tag is woven on a traditional shuttle loom using back-satin fabric, and the zipper pulls are custom-made from zinc die-cast by YKK.
